4、types for product and process management.The enterprise XR market has been on a slow but steady growth trajectory for years.Indeed,there have been some false starts for that growth in the past,most notably when some of the XR hype died down in 2016 and 2017,and indeed with CONTENTSENTERPRISE DIGITIZ

62、ould be at least one travel event avoided with remote solutions.Given the above hypothetical solution,the majority of those implementations would create a return after avoiding two travel events.Of course,upfront costs are amortized after deployment,so each subsequent travel event avoided after the
63、first creates even greater return.While there is easily extracted value from XR,it is important to understand company needs,target use cases and environments,cost expectations,and existing infrastructure to ensure success.A few of the most impactful elements to ROI are described in the following sec

74、ed downtime cannot.In either case,AR can reduce overall downtime.In planned downtime scenarios,XR can assist in maintenance tasks and reduce the overall time equipment is inoperable.For unplanned downtime,the same is true;the added potential with remote assistance solutions can also avoid waiting on
75、 expertise to be onsite for these unplanned events.ENVIRONMENTThe target environment for XR usage can sway potential ROI significantly.Hazardous environments can require greater device certifications,driving up the price.It can also limit the interaction and data access capabilities of either the us
76、er or the device,or both.High security requirements and,more importantly,varying security requirements across use,can make XR integration and proper usage more difficult.High complexity environments like a factory floor may be a challenge in which to use an XR device,even with Original Equipment Man
77、ufacturers(OEMs)focusing on strong voice navigation,gesture control,etc.to maintain a good user experience.DIGITAL MATURITY AND MIXED REALITY:TRENDS AND TAKEAWAYSUSABILITYThe user experience is often forgotten in ROI discussions,at least when dealing with more nascent technology like XR.The fact is,
78、a device collecting dust eliminates any ROI,instead creating a sunk cost.The nature of XR devices means that usage is not always intuitive.Many workers are hesitant to adopt new technology,which has been especially true with significant tribal knowledge and veteran expertise,such as in construction.
79、Workers may not use an XR device because it is confusing,disruptive,or deemed not valuable,and any earlier ROI considerations are null.Ensuring devices are used is a necessity,down through proper use case and environment identification,cultural understanding,and sometimes dedicated XR usageupskillin
80、g.This difficulty can be lessened with XR as a service offerings that bundle XR familiarization and support as part of the total package.This has become increasingly common,in fact,with many platform providers offering some level of professional services dedicated to XR adoption and streamlining the
81、 user experience for employees.INTEGRATIONIntegration needs can add complexity to an XR implementation and shift the ROI story.Both time-to-market and overall cost of integration into IT and Operational Technology(OT)systems is vastly different for a siloed remote expertise solution,versus an end-to

91、 the strengths and potential barriers of XR.XR devices are unique to any other technologywhether AR or VR,these devices often have unique content requirements,usage scenarios,and security demands compared to other devices.For that reason,device management platforms need to support XR devices nativel
92、y.Many smart glasses are Android based,so device management platforms can treat them similarly to an Android smartphone or tablet,but that does not solve for unique Operating System(OS)requirements like update schedules.VR is a unique device no matter what OS is running,and content is often entirely
93、 unique to VR.Some content sharing is possible,as with Three-Dimensional(3D)models,but much of the content delivery and consumption is unique.A device management platform that natively integrates both VR-specific content and the rest of an existing ecosystem is paramount to a cohesive VR experience.
94、Relatedly,analytics is a huge boon to XR when properly integrated.XR can provide unique and new data types for an analytics system to parselocations,heatmaps,work verification,workflow tracking,etc.XR is inherently user facing,and there is a very powerful two-way relationship between analytics and u
95、ser as a result.An XR user can capture data,which is sent to an analytics platform,which then pushes intelligent updates to that user.The other technologies included are more industry specific,so they see lower overall selection.That being said,for those that have these solutions already,integrating
96、 XR should be a given.Real-time data from an IoT platform visualized in XR can increase worker and operations efficiency.Product Lifecycle Management(PLM)and Customer Relationship Management(CRM)integration with XR can allow workers to automatically update those systems in real time,while working in
