6、Greeksocietythe cornerstone,after all,of our long-term andsustainable business activity.In recent years,we have carried out substantial and complexwork in order to forge NBG into one of the biggest financialinstitutions in the wider region of SE Europe.At the same time,however,the responsibility we
7、feel towards the community atlarge,the environment,the market and our employees has alsoincreased significantly,because we believe that economicgrowth and social responsibility go hand in hand with goodbusiness practice.Following closely international trends and changes,we approachthe concept of Cor

13、er 550 million to regionsafflicted by last years wildfires in Greece,and?the preparation of a Code of Conduct,which has beendistributed to all staff.We appreciate and recognize the limitations of this Report,whichreflect in part the restricted scope of the concept of CorporateSocial Responsibility i

17、to be the largest,bank of themodern Greek state.Since its establishment in the nineteenthcentury and through to the present day,its destiny has beenclosely associated with the course of the Greek economy.Eversince it first opened for business,NBG has been the key lever forthe national economy,and th
18、e driving socio-economic forcebehind the Greek state.The Bank has provided vital financialsupport in critical and important phases of the countrys modernhistory,and backed important projects in the spheres ofeducation,culture and research.What is more,NBG is the bank that systematically introduced n

29、 NBG Group has adopted a Corporate Social Responsibility(CSR)policy that sets out specific areas for action to be taken bythe Bank and its subsidiaries.The Groups CSR policy is posted on the NBG website(www.nbg.gr)on the Social Presence page.The mode of CSRgovernance at NBG is outlined below:?The Bo
30、ards of Directors of the Bank and its affiliated concernscarry out corporate social actions,and approve the annualbudget relating to CSR actions within the context of theGroups overall budget.?The CEO of each of the Groups entities is ultimatelyresponsible for the implementation of the CSR policy.?T
