6、 following algorithm is used for assigning shipment lines to pickers in pick lists:All the selected shipment line splits are grouped by the inventory ID and location ID and ordered by the location ID.The quantity for picking from all shipment line splits is summed by the inventory ID and location ID

7、 in a pick list line.The aggregated lines are ordered by their locations path.The shortest path is calculated for each number of pickers within the interval from 1 to the value of the Max.Number of Picker box specified on the Create Pick Lists(SO503050)form.Among all paths generated on the previous

8、step,the system selects the path with the minimal total sum of path lengths for all pickers.The main idea of the path calculation is to spend the minimum of time of all employees and save the full-time equivalent(FTE)for other tasks.The system calculates the shortest summary path for all the pickers

9、 assigned to the worksheet.It is not necessary that the paths of the pickers assigned to the worksheet are equal.The worker with the shortest path in this worksheet will complete the task earlier and take the next task.Demo10Warehouse Picking ProcessesSingle-Shipment PickingAn extension of discrete

10、picking.With wave picking,multiple orders are grouped into small groups or waves.A picker will pick all orders within the wave in one pass using a consolidated pick list.Usually,the picker will use a multi-tiered picking cart maintaining a separate tote or carton on the cart for each order.Wave size

11、s usually run from 4 to 12 orders per wave depending on the average picks per order in that specific operation.In operations with low picks per order,wave picking can greatly reduce travel time by allowing the picker to make additional picks while in the same area.To get maximum productivity in wave

12、 pick operations,orders must be accumulated in the system until there are enough similar picks to create the waves.Wave PickingBatch Picking11Warehouse Picking ProcessesSingle-Shipment PickingBatch picking allows the picker to collect all the products required in a group of orders before packing the

13、m into cartons.For each pick,the picker is guided to the pick location,and told the product and quantity to pick,but not the tote into which to pack the items.Instead,the picker places the products in aggregate onto a pallet,cart,or into totes and brings them to a sorting area where the items are th

14、en segregated into boxes for the appropriate shipments.Wave PickingBatch Picking12With a wave picking flow,a warehouse manager prepares a series of pick lists for a group of orders to be shipped(also called a wave).Each picker receives a consolidated pick list that includes multiple shipments for wh

15、ich the picker can pick all the listed items in one pass through the warehouse.The pickers collect the items and organize them in the individual totes assigned to each of the shipments.When the items are brought to the packing location,the packer takes the items from each of the totes,verifies that

16、the shipment is collected correctly,and packs the items into boxes.Wave Picking13With a batch picking flow,the warehouse manager prepares a batch picking worksheet with a batch of orders to be shipped,prints the related pick lists,and gives the pick lists to the pickers who will perform this work.In

17、 batch picking,each pick list generally includes items from multiple sales orders.The pickers collect the items listed in the pick lists from the specified warehouse locations and bring these items to the sorting location.A pack line operator prints packing slips for the shipments ready for packing
