7、 already one of the 14 countries in the EU that reached their 2020 renewables target.The country also ranks third in Europe for the generation of renewable resources and power consumption.Italy has set ambitious goals for renewable energy,including eliminating coal by 2025 and growing the renewable
8、final gross electricity production rate to 72%by 2030.US firms have opportunities in Italy in natural gas and clean energy technologies,with the country focused on diversifying gas supplies,filling gas storage facilities,and improving energy savings in the near term.In the medium term,Italy aims to
9、speed up its energy-saving measures and renewable energy development and further diversify gas supplies.While Italy faced struggles after the sanctions and curtailments were placed on Russian gas exports following the Ukraine invasion,the country is committed to investing in renewable energy and has
10、 made significant progress towards a greener energy mix.The PV sector in ItalyItaly has established itself as a major player in the photovoltaic(PV)industry,ranking 6th globally for production and consumption.Solar energy accounts for about 20%of the renewable energy produced and 7-8%of total energy
11、 output.Italy saw an impressive annual growth rate of 63.7%in solar installations between 2005 and 2015.Despite this impressive growth,there is still a strong push toward installing solar.In September 2022,Italy reached a total installed capacity of 24.2 GW,with 1,612 MW installed between January an

14、uction,with the ambitious goal of achieving 3 gigawatts by July 2024.The European Commission contributed 188 million in grants via pandemic recovery and innovation funding from the EU,taking the total investment in the facilitys upgrades to around 600 million.The goal is to increase domestic renewab
15、le energy production and to use it in Sicily and the rest of Italy.The government plans to produce two-thirds of Italys energy from renewable sources to ensure greater energy security,with gas supplying the remainder.The PV sector in ItalyWho are the key players?Tages Helios Technology is an investm
16、ent company with Tages Capital SGR based in Milan,specializing in renewable energy investment management.They are Italys second largest photovoltaic(PV)operator based on installed capacity.They recently secured a 130m($151m)green loan from eight banks to refinance debt and acquire new portfolios of
17、wind and solar assets.This marks the first deal compliant with the“Green Loan Principles”and“Guidance on Green Loan Principles”by the Loan Market Association.It will finance Tages Helios II,their second fund focused on the Italian renewable energy sector.Enel Green Power is a leading player in the I
18、talian solar industry,with a recent focus on community involvement in green energy projects.The companys crowdfunding initiative has already led to the opening of The Malvezzi solar park,a 17 MW photovoltaic power plant in Poggio Renatico.In addition,Enel Green Power operates the 3Sun factory,suppor
19、ting Italys commitment to invest in renewable energy.Who are the key players?In 2015-16,Enel Green Power and F2i started EF Solare Italia as equal partners in a joint venture,and it has since expanded to operate over 300 solar plants spread across 17 different regions in Italy.F2i has since acquired
